5 Chateaux to Follow on Instagram

As harvest season kicks off, so does the #bdx16 hashtag on Instagram. We’ve put together a list of five Chateaux to follow for harvest inspiration.

Chateau Bauduc

Château Bauduc is a 200-acre estate on the edge of Créon. They are unusual for Bordeaux because half their vines are white – mostly Sauvignon Blanc, plus nine acres of Sémillon. Their grapes are picked partly by machine and partly by hand during the September and October harvest, which they document heavily on their Instagram account. Check out their night harvesting photos!

Chateau Larrivaux

Chateau Larrivaux is situated in the Haut-Medoc AOC. With 60% Merlot,  26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot, the Larrivaux wines display both a supple structure and rich aromas of blackcurrant and liquorice. Their instagram has beautiful high contrast, high quality photos which capture the familial aspect & history of the vineyard.

Chateau Biac

Chateau Biac’s unique setting overlooks the Garonne River and the plain of the Graves. Seeped in history, the vineyard is now owned by Tony, Youmna, Yasmina, Gabriel and Antonia – a Lebanese family. Their Instagram documents both their picturesque surroundings and the ongoing harvest.

Chateau Rauzan-Segla

Chateau Rauzan-Segla finds its home in the Margaux appellation of the Bordeaux region. The vineyard extends 130 acres with the grape variety distribution of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 2% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Check out their instagram for beautiful macro photos of these grapes blooming.

Chateau Carsin

Chateau Carsin is a Finnish owned ‘new world’ winery, based in the Côtes de Bordeaux wine region. They produce a mix of fresh whites, rich reds, fruity rosé and sweet wines. Although technically ‘new world’, they have become more traditional by putting more effort to the work in the vineyards and less in the cellar. This work is heavily documented on their Instagram, with some nice filters to match!
