As an aperitif or accompaniment to fine canapés, why not serve a fresh yet full rosé. Too often reserved for the summer, rosé offers a refreshing first drink before a meal, or would pair well with a light seafood starter.A selection of seafood starters.

Another winner for pre-dinner drinks, or for light canapés such as smoked salmon blinis, is a crisp and fruity white Bordeaux such as a 100% Sauvignon Blanc, or a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle. These whites are typically fruity, dry and surprisingly fresh, with the explosive Sauvignon aromas that so many people enjoy!

Classic smoked salmon blinis. We are increasingly serving alternatives to turkey during the holidays, such as goose, pork and vegetarian dishes. With that in mind it’s great to be able to serve a red that won’t overpower, but will also work with a variety of flavours and side dishes. Bordeaux blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot offer supple, full wines with expressive fruit that are also fantastic enjoyed on their own. There are so many affordable options, take a look at some of our suggestions here.

The perfect roast goose recipe. When talking Christmas food we can’t ignore the mince pie, and Bordeaux has the perfect solution – a luscious sweet white wine.  Whilst there are different styles of sweet wines from the Bordeaux region, the traditional mince pie with a sweet, fruit filling and buttery pastry needs a wine with aromatic depth and richness to best compliment. The wines’ flavours of mango, honey and candied orange work perfectly!
