Protecting the environment!

Protecting the environment!

To take care of nature, we are developing agroforestry, creating favorable conditions for bats and bees, and helping to protect the natural balance in the soil.

Nature at the heart of our work

For more than 10 years, our industry has invested to improve its environmental practices in response to consumer expectations and civil society.

More than 75% of our area under vine today is certified by an environmental strategy (AB, HEV, Terra Vitis, Demeter, etc.), compared to 35% in 2014! This is just one testament to the unwavering commitment made by Bordeaux winegrowers.

Contrary to the image of traditional single-crop farming, with a reluctance to change, we strive to anticipate, innovate and adapt collectively to preserve our resources and safeguard our ecosystems. Together, in this way, we face the many challenges of the future such as climate change.

Such is the path we have chosen to give back to nature what nature gives to us!

Our main objectives

  • Promote the circular economy;
  • Reduce plant protection products by using alternative methods;
  • Preserve and develop biodiversity;
  • Maintain ditches;
  • Plant hedges;
  • Manage waste for recycling;
  • Manage energy consumption sustainably (water, electricity, fuel oil);
  • Produce renewable energy;
  • Contribute to attaining carbon neutrality by 2050.

In the vineyard

  • 39% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2020 (vs 2007);
  • Over 75% of our area under vine is environmentally certified;
  • 19 species of bat in our wine region.

“Essai Vin Cœur" initiative

Objective: for every point scored by the Union Bordeaux Bègles rugby team on home turf, plant 10 trees in the Bordeaux vineyards.

  • Trees planted in vineyards as part of an agroforestry project bringing together a network of partners;
  • 2,590 trees planted thanks to 259 points scored by the Union Bordeaux Bègles rugby team in 2023;
  • Trees planted by youth organizations.
