The harvest was considerably affected by record frost in late April and heavy hailstorms that hit certain appellations in late August. Nevertheless, the vintage has turned out to be high in quality.
RED WINES
This year's reds display a nice fruity expression along with lots of freshness. The wines – with supple, elegant tannins – are round and balanced. A lovely, delightful vintage, built on suppleness.
DRY WHITE WINES
This year's dry whites are refreshing, lively and very expressive. The typicity of the grape varietals is fully expressed. The Sauvignons are especially elegant with aromatic notes of fresh fruit and citrus. The Sémillons provide mellowness and volume on the palate. All in all, a very nice white vintage having benefited from excellent weather conditions.
SWEET WHITE WINES
The Sémillons – the king varietal in these wines – enjoyed outstanding weather conditions, promoting aromatic richness and concentration. They are very fruity with exotic notes of citrus and candied orange. Their sugar and acidity are nicely balanced, endowing them with outstanding freshness.
ROSÉ AND CLAIRET WINES
The rosés tend to be fairly pale in color and rather lively, with some displaying sour notes, while others reveal expressions of ripe fruit.
