Bringing our region to life!

Bringing our region to life!

We live and work alongside our neighbors and the city of Bordeaux. We enjoy nothing more than seeing the flora and fauna thrive in the vineyards: this is a sign that our region is alive.

Preserving a dynamic rurality

With 103,200 hectares in 2023, distributed throughout the Gironde region, Bordeaux is the largest French PDO vineyard. It is also one of the oldest, with 2,000 years of history shared between its wines and its eponymous city!

Our landscapes and local economy are profoundly shaped by the activities of the winegrowers and négociants in our industry. However, winegrowing in Bordeaux has to contend with the challenges that are affecting rural affairs in general, such as cohabiting with local residents, representing the agricultural sector in political bodies, and polarizing activities around cities.

That is why we are keen to showcase our winegrowers and negociants whose artisanal methods guarantee unique expertise in production and commerce, while being rooted in our region. We also strive to preserve:

  • Our terroir (a concept that encompasses the soil, the climate and people), which is the very basis of the quality of our wines;
  • A rural economic and social fabric, which is complementary to the strengths of the Bordeaux metropolitan area.

Our united and virtuous winegrowers are committed to protecting their region with passion and conviction!

Our main objectives

  • Create local jobs, including in rural areas;
  • Live in harmony with local residents, particularly for estates on urban fringes;
  • Encourage sustainable supply and purchasing processes with local suppliers;

In the vineyard

  • 2,000 years of history and expertise that have shaped our 103,000 hectares of vineyards;
  • Estates with an average area under vine of 21 hectares;
  • 1 region listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Saint-Emilion).

#Bordeauxlocal

  • Movement launched in 2020;
  • Bringing together a large number of sectors that contribute to the economy and reputation of our Bordeaux terroir.
