Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux

The wines of this small relatively unknown Appellation in the eastern part of Bordeaux distinguish themselves by their complexity and opulence, with Merlot as their base. They are well worth discovering.


A long and tasty finish

Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux wines have a beautiful, warm golden colour. Their delicate nose presents aromas of white flowers, honey, toast, and subtle notes of musk. On the palate, these wines are round, ample, very suave and fresh. They have a remarkably long and aromatic finish.

These elegant and harmonious wines can be enjoyed with foie gras (duck liver), spicy cheese, such as munster, or even with chocolate cake... They can also be paired with dishes that are not too spicy, such as ginger-grilled shrimp or a veal roast with Espelette pepper.

Sauvignon dominates these blends but is used in nearly the same proportion as Sémillon. Muscadelle and Sauvignon gris are used as complementary grape varieties.

At the tip of the Gironde

This appellation is located more than 60 km east of Bordeaux, at the border of the Gironde department. This AOC is an alignment of hills. The relatively deep soils are composed of clay and limestone The vines are generally planted on the upper reaches of hills and plateaus.

The river creates a humid and mild microclimate, with night fogs appearing at the end of the summer. This microclimate favours the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) which attacks and breaks the grape skin. The grape pulp then dries up and becomes a rich, golden jam full of sugars and aromas.
